Exclusive: Bob Orton Jr. Shares Update on Randy Orton's WWE Return

Bob Orton Jr., a seasoned WWE veteran, recently provided an update on the status of his son, Randy Orton, who has been absent from the wrestling ring for nearly a year.

Randy Orton, known as "The Viper," last competed on the May 20, 2022 edition of SmackDown, where he and his tag team partner Matt Riddle lost their RAW Tag Team Championship to The Usos. At that time, Orton was enjoying a successful run as a fan-favorite and seemed destined for a prominent match at WrestleMania 39. However, fate had other plans.

Following his last match, Orton has been dealing with back issues, which required surgery. Despite various reports and rumors surrounding his future, the most recent update comes directly from his father, Bob Orton Jr.

During a conversation with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda Wrestling, the 72-year-old legend revealed that Randy Orton has been diligently training and might consider a comeback if he feels physically prepared. However, Bob Orton Jr. disclosed that doctors have advised against a hasty return to the ring.

"He's training, so we'll see what happens; I don't know. If he feels like he's ready to go back, I think he might, but again he's pretty well taken care of. I don't think he needs to. And I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do," said Bob Orton Jr.

While fans eagerly await Randy Orton's return to WWE, it appears that it may still take some time before he receives medical clearance. However, speculation has already begun among viewers regarding what Orton might do upon his comeback.

Recently, Dave Meltzer speculated that if Drew McIntyre, another WWE superstar, leaves the company later this year as rumored, it could open the door for Randy Orton's return. Meltzer suggested that McIntyre's departure could create a void on the roster, potentially leading WWE to bring Orton back in order to maintain star power.

As Randy Orton's hiatus from WWE continues, fans will have to remain patient and wait for further updates on his potential return to the wrestling world.
